Map mode picks one place in the state of Leonida every day. You get six guesses. After each one you are told how far your guess is from the answer, which compass direction to travel, and how close you are as a percentage, and the guess is pinned on the map so the search area narrows visually as you go.

Distances use a stylised scale of the map rather than real kilometres, because Rockstar has not published measurements. The relative distances are what matter. A guess that halves your distance has genuinely halved it.

Where the answers come from

Answers are drawn only from places Rockstar has named or clearly shown. Unconfirmed locations appear in the guess list so the autocomplete stays useful, but they are never the answer.

• Port Gellhorn. Working docks, warehouses and a shipping channel in the northwest.
• Mount Kalaga. Forested highlands and a national park built for off-road driving.
• Ambrosia. Sugar refineries, biker bars and back-road county sheriffs.
• Grassrivers. Sawgrass wetlands, airboats and stilt houses south of the lake.
• Vice City. The neon spine of the state. Beach, causeway, downtown, port.
• Leonida Keys. A chain of islands trailing southwest on a single highway.
