GTA 6 mission list
Rockstar has not published a GTA 6 mission list. No names, no count, no order. None of it exists outside the studio. What is confirmed is how the story is built, in chapters, with a map that opens as you progress and missions with more than one way through.

What Rockstar has confirmed about the structure
The Extended Look established the shape of the campaign without naming a single mission. The story is told in chapters, and the open world expands as you move through them rather than handing you the whole state at once. It opens in the Leonida Keys, near Jason's house, after a simple job goes badly wrong and leaves the pair fugitives.
Two details matter more than they look. Missions have multiple routes through them, so a mission list will describe branches rather than a single path. And choices both large and small carry forward, which is why the eventual list will be worth reading in order rather than skipping to the one you are stuck on.

The 80-hour figure is being misreported
Rob Nelson of Rockstar North put his own playthrough of the story plus narrative side content at around eighty hours. That has been reprinted across the web as “GTA 6 is 80 hours long”, which is not what he said and not what it means.
It is one route through a branching game, played by someone who helped build it and therefore never got lost, never failed a mission and never had to look for anything. It is not a target length, not an average, and not a floor or a ceiling. Treat it as the only datapoint that exists, because it is, and treat anyone quoting it as a runtime as not having read the source.
What a Rockstar mission list has looked like before
- GTA V shipped with roughly seventy story missions, though no two counts agree. The prologue, the heist setups and the assassinations get included or excluded depending who is counting.
- Side content sat in a separate tier. GTA V's Strangers and Freaks were tracked apart from the main story and several could be locked out entirely.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 ran six chapters plus two epilogues, with missions unlocking strictly by chapter.
- Rockstar has consistently gated content behind story progress, and some of it stops being available once the plot moves past it.
- Completion criteria per mission, such as RDR2's gold medals and GTA V's mission checklists, have been a fixture, and are what a 100% run is actually measured against.
What is worth doing now
Two things carry over from every Rockstar campaign and both are decided before a list exists. Do side content as you reach it rather than banking it for after the credits, because Rockstar routinely locks it behind story progress. And keep cash in the joint account, because some story missions cannot be started until you can pay for them, which means a broke playthrough can stall on the plot itself rather than on a mission you failed.
What lands here at launch
Rockstar has never published a mission list before a launch. The verified list, in story order, lands here on 19 November 2026.
Then this page gains
- The full mission list in story order, chapter by chapter
- Which missions are missable, and what locks them out
- Which story missions require money up front, and how much
- Side-mission strands and the chapter each unlocks in
- Completion criteria per mission, if Rockstar's gold-medal convention returns
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026. This page is published now, with what is genuinely known now, rather than appearing on the day with everyone else's.
